So you want to write a Mini-Review about something? Great! Please make sure to add images to your post! Images allow other users to quickly grasp "what it's all about" (see example: http://www.donationcoder....um/index.php?topic=1385.0 ). You don't always need to create your own screenshots (but of course DC's own Screenshot Captor is always there for you), often you'll find screenshots online that you could simply link here by using the img tags (click the "Insert image" button that you see above every post). Still having questions? Feel free to ask! Thanks

remember you can attach images to your post by click the "additional options" link at the bottom left while you are making a post, and for info on how to put images anywhere you want in your post see http://www.donationcoder....um/index.php?topic=1996.0

Also be sure to use the "Mini-Review" template from the preset text drop down box on the new post form - it will create a skeleton of a mini review for you so you just have to fill in the details.

I don't see the preset dropdown box from the new post I am currently using ! See picture below (I am not even sure how this image appeared ...).

Here's a screenshot of what you should when you create a new topic and choose the mini-review template from the preset text drop-down: note: make sure you have javascript enabled - i think it's used to fill the message text.

I wrote the whole review and pressed Refresh in browser without Posting it, but after reviewing it about 10 times. And poof! all gone! So, never mind if you have written pure junk or even dirty filthy rubbish, first save it, you can always edit it. Nothing is gonna be the problem if you save and then it "becomes public". You can easily change it. After you've entered anything that took up time or effort, first post, then edit.See, I wrote "or even dirty filthy rubbish" and saved it. Now I click on the modify link at th eright top of the post, strike out that text and save it.

I don't agree, I think incomplete posts are a disservice to those who read it - but you can press Alt+a and Alt+c to copy it to the clipboard whenever you type longer post. After losing a few long posts (thanks to browser or network problems) over the years I now often do that. If I'm writing very long posts, I also copy a version to a .txt file.

Remember you can always post whatever you want in My Personal Area. Even if you save a post in "My Personal Area", you are the only one who sees it. Do whatever you what, just copy/paste the source code and post to the proper forum section after you are done with the post. Useful for getting your post ready before revealing it to the public.

Wordzilla hit it right on the head. That personal area was created for something like this.
ps. whenever you are writing anything really long, please please please make a copy somewhere as you are going. If you use a clipboard tool like mine or another which saves to storage as soon as you copy a clip, that's at least some backup for you (just do ctrl+A then Ctrl+C and you at least have a copy in clipboard).

And even when working in "my personal area", always write your posts in a text editor, and paste to the board when you're going to post/preview.

The personal area is only half useful at the moment... great for preparing your long reviews etc, but when it comes time to go public, you can't simply copy and paste the source, since that would loose all your lovely screenshots and attachments.
Can the board permissions be altered in such a way that me are admins for our own area and have the power to move a finished post to the public area of the board?

i was just about to ask for this.. anyway, i'd like to second Ampa's suggestions because it'd be difficult copy-paste the image attachments unless we get a url for each of the images á la ImageShack..

yes, it's not working yet.. btw, just an idea.. why not implement something like Imageshack's Transloader? we can just right-click on an image and send it to DC forums..
