hard drive resurrection [I'm desperate!]

Check the jumpers on hard drive(If any)...Try Scandisk, that should give you some indication on the condition of the drive...If you have Scandisk on CD, boot up from CD if you have Stiffy boot up from removable or Stiffy...

It might be worthwhile to buy an external HDD adapter. That way you could plug the drive in after windows boots. As long as windows recognizes something is plugged in you should be able to do data recovery on it.

FWIW: A friend of mine is using FileScavenger to get data back from corrupted hard disks (even ones Windows is not recognizing anymore).
