New AMD 8 core processors released

(1/1)

Carol Haynes:
See http://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/news/2116173/amd-launches-core-desktop-chips-built-bulldozer-cores

eleman:
Unfortunately, the new architecture of AMD seems to lack punch every sane spectator of the CPU market hoped it would pack. See review1, and review2.

Sobs.

Carol Haynes:
I guess this is going to be a stepping stone release and AMD was going for the 'first 8 core processor' tag.

They are going to be releasing 4.3Ghz chips soon (but haven't yet) so maybe a 30% increase in current clock speeds will prove the concept.

Personally I think the Bulldozer II will iron out some of the kinks.

It has to be said at least AMD are being innovative in its designs.

f0dder:
Some commentary by Scali (he's been critically (balancing close to inflammatory, but that's how he is :)) following Bulldozer stuff for a while) - seems like it's pretty darn lackluster.

EDIT: and New AMD 8 core processors releasedthis - not the best synced etc, but funny :)
