Hard Disk Sentinel Professional on BDJ
« on: October 03, 2011, 05:09 AM »
50% off today, 10-3-2011 only for 17.50

Link to Deal: http://www.bitsdujou...ntinel-professional/
Link to Software: http://www.hdsentine...nel_professional.php

One positive comment from a user on the site (which doesn't necessarily mean anything), but the developer has been quite responsive to questions on the listing, and the answers have seemed very thorough.  I'm still on the fence...

...does anyone have any experiences with it?

@wraith808: I have experience of using HDS Pro for 7 months, and it is trouble-free and seems able to do what is claimed, though I fortunately have not had any disk failures to test its predictive ability yet.
I bought it on a 20% discount.
HDS Pro seems to be able to "see" and check SMART on USB-connected drives also, which apparently not all drive checkers can do.

Hi Folks,

And I was impressed enough to make it as a "extra" purchase.  It was nice to know quickly that the hard disk is in good shape and some monitoring and scheduling can be set up. And that there is a company with a software on this that is on the A-1 level.

Even the comparative piece of mind is kewl, knowing that a few hard drives have crashed over the years. This is an example where the Bits discount $17.50 compared to $35 is rather fundamental to the purchase.

Granted, you may get the basics from some freeware and some savvy, however this is a nicely done software.

There is a discussion board, not super active, but it is there, another nice sign.

Thank you for the heads up.  Missed it yesterday on BDJ.
Couldn't get there using the link then re-read your post. Then went to the developer's site and clicked buy.  And everything worked fine.  Entered the coupon code and the 50% was applied.

Still waiting on my final confirmation. An email said it could take 4 to 24 hours??

How did you pay?  I used paypal and it was pretty much immediate.

I used PayPal also.  Other times I've bought software it's almost immediate also.

Here's part of the email. Came from noreply-eng @ shareit

"Dear Valued Customer,

Your order for "Hard Disk Sentinel PROFESSIONAL" (order number (order number was here)) has been received and is being verified by our team. Your order will most likely be processed within the next 4 hours, but in no case will it take more than 24 hours.

In order to avoid multiple charges to your credit card, please do not resubmit your order."

If I haven't heard anything in a couple of hours I'll try the customer service route.
