A new Humble Bundle
« on: September 28, 2011, 01:15 PM »
There's a new Humble Bundle

Frozen Synapse is a turn-based strategy game which, if you pay "above the average" for, also gives you access to 3-5 more games.

It's only around for two weeks, apparently. The last bundle was excellent -- not sure that this one's my speed but I'm sure it'll appeal to some of you  :D
-- bests, Tim

...this space unintentionally left blank.

Why oh why am I always out of money when the bundles come up?  >:(

That's OK, I'm not much of a gamer anyways, but I've been wanting to at least try a few, and I refuse to pay less than 10 bucks for the awesome effort these guys are putting in.

+1!

I'm in the same boat and have the same attitude towards the HIB.

The word "bargain" gets overused. But the bundle is definitely one of the true bargains out there.  :-*

Brilliant - I was about to post this. Downloading as I type ...

By the way as I ordered a couple of minutes ago the 'average' was just over $4 - not exactly going to break the bank if you are hard up!

You guys who have Frozen Synapse should do a Let's Play. I've heard some good concepts about the game but sadly no cash and looks like a sequel could even be better.

P.S. This video isn't a true Let's Play:

The latest bundles have unfortunately had things that I already have.  :(  I guess I buy before they bundle! :)

I wasn't going to buy it because I already own all the games and I wasn't too impressed with the FrozenByte Bundle the first time it came around. But then I remembered that I could adjust the distribution sliders however I wanted (and give it all to charity if I desired) and get a gift code for someone else to redeem the games.

That's like being charitable three times at once.

Another new game added - SpaceChem.

Brilliant game if you like being mentally challenged to suicide levels.

Annoying that I already have the two latest additions.

it's a good thing that SpaceChem comes with a separate Steam key. you can give it away if you already have the game.

It's also worth noting that if you have Steam installed anyway it is worth using SpcaeChem through steam as that is the only way you can get the extra 'quantum' content (it isn't available in any other way). This was an interesting development because SpaceChem doesn't use DRM so they seem to have changed that policy for the additional material. Note Steam only supports WIndows and Mac.

From SpaceChem FAQs:

Do I have to buy a game once for each platform I want to play it on?
No. After purchasing a game on the Zachtronics Industries store, you are free to download and use versions for every platform available on the Zachtronics Industries store. Games not available on the Zachtronics Industries store, such as games for Apple iOS, are not included.

Which seems a very fair way of doing things.

Note if you activate it in Steam you have to run it in Steam (if you try and launch from the app folder as you can do with the direct download it automatically restarts Steam and you need an internet connection to login).

The only thing I would like is Steam Cloud support for game save - if you are using Steam anyway it would be nice to be able to run it on a desktop and laptop without having to sync the user data folders.
