My impression is not that mouser feels it has become divisive, but that it could, and he's wanting to keep things friendly.

One lesson I learned years ago: when I'm around friends and family (especially over a Thanksgiving meal), don't discuss political/religious things unless you want an argument.  Of course, this is because my family members have such diverse views and strongly held opinions.
