Conceptual art for Apple's new headquarters
40hz:
ghacks recently posted an interesting article about Apple's planned new corporate campus in Cupertino. Read it here.
Here's what it wants to look like:
Interesting. It reminds me of a wagon train ‘circled up’ against an enemy attack. A rather appropriate look for Apple when you think about it.
And look – inside the impenetrable outer wall there’s an inner circle too! Wow…this just keeps looking more and more appropriate.
All that’s missing is a crocodile infested moat and a chained dragon near the entrance.
Hmm...was it possibly inspired by dictator Trevor Goodchilde's fortress/headquarters in the Aeon Flux movie?
Why don't you be the judge! :P ;D

Curious... I would have expected something more like this:

Hahah. Perfect.

Yeah I read about this a while back. Jobs himself did a lengthy presentation to the city of Cupertino in which he explains in detail how great it would be for the city to have this facility there (video on Youtube most likely, I'm too lazy to look, heh). I like the god-like rays in the pic above though...

I wasn't going to mention this before, but... You're forcing my hand... (And given the recent capitulations to Godwin's Law, I make no apologies.)
They remind me of the beginning of "Triumph of the Will", and I don't mean that maliciously. I mean that quite literally. That was my FIRST thought when looking at it.
It's the same as the scene where Adolf Hitler is flying into Nuremburg as though he's a Wagnerian Valkyrie, gloriously soaring over the sun-lit clouds, bringing down his divine vision and light to the masses...
I don't see a difference.
If anyone wants to drive the metaphor further, I won't object to any renditions of Steve Jobs being the "Hitler" of the tech world today. (At the moment he's just marching into Austria...)
Got to hand it to Leni Riefenstahl... She was brilliant.
