I Find This HILARIOUS~! =D
« on: August 07, 2011, 12:46 AM »
But I'm sure a few others won't... Anyways...

http://pastebin.com/iKsuRkUj

A week after we defaced and destroyed the websites of over 70 law enforcement
agencies, we are releasing a massive amount of confidential information that is
sure to embarass, discredit and incriminate police officers across the US. Over
10GB of information was leaked including hundreds of private email spools,
password information, address and social security numbers, credit card numbers,
snitch information, training files, and more. We hope that not only will
dropping this info demonstrate the inherently corrupt nature of law enforcement
using their own words, as well as result in possibly humiliation, firings, and
possible charges against several officers, but that it will also disrupt and
sabotage their ability to communicate and terrorize communities.

They go to town on the police in a hard way.

First, they go on a rape spree, then wait a week. Just long enough for police to come out and deny the level of damage.

Next, they post all the damage and show that the police are LYING.

It's BEAUTIFUL~! I love that.

It would be one thing for the police to tell the truth, but... Lying? Yeah... I have no sympathy there.

Speaking of sympathy:

We have no sympathy for any of the officers or informants who may be endangered
by the release of their personal information. For too long they have been using
and abusing our personal information, spying on us, arresting us, beating us,
and thinking that they can get away with oppressing us in secrecy. Well it's
retribution time: we want them to experience just a taste of the kind of misery
and suffering they inflict upon us on an everyday basis. Let this serve as a
warning to would-be snitches and pigs that your leaders can no longer protect
you: give up and turn on your masters now before it's too late.

Harsh.

For another laugh that I'm pretty sure anyone here would get a kick out of for one reason or another:

// A TALE OF TWO OWNINGS

It took less than 24 hours to root BJM's server and copy all their data to our
private servers. Soon after, their servers were taken down and a news article
came out suggesting they received advance FBI "credible threat" notice of a
"hacking plot". At this point it was too late for them because the stolen files
were gonna get leaked regardless. However we were surprised and delighted to see
that not only did they relaunch a few sites less than a week later, but that
their "bigger, faster server that offers more security" carried over our
backdoors from their original box
.
This time we were not going to hesitate to
pull the trigger: in less than an hour we rooted their new server and defaced
all 70+ domains while their root user was still logged in and active.

Hahahahaa~! Is that not just insane?

Regarding "pull the trigger", a nice big long list (shortened here as you'll get the point):

// THIS TIME WE'RE NOT GONNA HESITATE TO PULL THE TRIGGER.

Wow.
This looks very bad.

The Renton police/prosecutor's response to those satirical cartoons was bad enough, I thought.
I mean - it looked like they would try to trash the 1st Amendment rights of the cartoons' creator.

I had previously always thought that the US was the last bastion of democracy and freedom.

This is going about it in entirely the wrong way. The only thing it will succeed in doing is to encourage our already secretive governments to become even more secretive. It also plays into the hands of those arguing for increasingly restrictive laws that will ultimately hurt all of us.

The nihilists and anarchist of the previous two centuries did little to effect social change or bring about reform. About the only thing they did succeed in doing was to commit the assassination that led to the first world war. I wonder how many "workers of the world" were happy about "casting off their chains" and factory jobs in order to shoulder a rifle and die in a muddy trench.

Right now, the outlaw hacking groups are little more than a mosquito bite on big  government's ass. As a result, there hasn't been too much action against them since the cost/benefit ratio hasn't justified much more than sporadic enforcement actions, strong consternation, and the passage of ineffective laws. However, should that day ever come, I think these 'naughty folk' will be stunned by the brutality and extent of the reprisals. And so will everybody else since a huge amount of collateral damage to innocent people will also likely take place in the name of "a threat to national security." Not a good way to win allies in the general community.

Right now, governments are still playing mostly by the rule of law. Those who play outside the rules are naive to think that situation will continue indefinitely if they continue down the road they're on.

Wow.

You're right, it was:(

All that ended with 9/11 the passage of the Patriot Act and subsequent legislation which has turned the United States into what, for all practical purposes, is now a police state with all real power centered in the Executive Branch. And Legislature and Judiciary be damned if they don't like it.

One more brief rest stop on the way to overt national socialism - except in the USA it will use the Bible for its justification and symbolism.

Agreed. But passive acceptance and line toeing will simple accelerate the demise of our rights as US citizens. So it's nice to see someone fighting back. The meek are welcome to wait for their inheritance of earth ... But the rest of us would like to go kicking and screaming (if nobody minds...) because the "right way" to effect change on this appears to be a dead end.

To me, hacktivism is far closer to pen than sword.

@SJ - just for the record, nobody's saying anything about "passive acceptance." I faced enough police riot units at otherwise peaceful protests over the years that I'm far from what you'd consider passive or accepting.  I'm just saying the tactics chosen are not effective tools for bringing about the change they said they're trying to bring about.

I'd say 40hz is correct in thinking that this will only strengthen their resolve. You see it all the time: fighting something so overtly only makes it defensive and strenghten it's beliefs. (Not saying we gotta accept it though!)
Didnt realise it was so extreme over there....

Hey America - welcome to the real world.

The only thing you got wrong is that America is a democracy? 9/11 didn't put an end to that idea (although it gave anti-democratic methods a huge boost) - the US hasn't been a democracy in the last century (if it ever truly has been).

Sorry to disillusion you - democracy is rather more than a popular vote between two candidates (hand picked by cronies and big business) every few years - and Bush even got in when he lost the vote!

I know it is probably going to annoy people for me to say this but the US, UK and almost all of the so called democratic west, is no more democratic than the old USSR and Maoist China. The west is just better at the PR to give the illusion and stop people revolting, and they might (but only might) be a little less aggressive because of those PR firms! Truly stand up to the government, fire the bullet to be heard around the world in the US today and see how you will be applauded for your courage (from Guantanamo - sorry that is closed now, right - the liberal president promised - didn't he?)

If you want to object to my analysis take your criticism to a free speech thread where I don't have to read it ... (that's democratic - right?)

Of that I'm quite certain, I had no intention of implying otherwise. Apologies.

I'd love to see a middle-ground course of action that was making some progress. In the interim I find myself hard pressed to find fault with the antics of this particular fringe's shenanigans.

What would be the right way? Be a fringe group that nobody listens much, to like the EFF?

I see only one other alternative, and it involves massive levels of physical violence.

Right now, governments are still playing mostly by the rule of law. Those who play outside the rules are naive to think that situation will continue indefinitely if they continue down the road they're on.

There is no rule of law anymore. All that is out the window. A recent news story here in Australia blew me away with politicians promising to keep someone in prison through specific legislation JUST FOR HIM! Wow... So much for the rule of law.

The only rule is about how much money you have.

And even if they are playing by the rule of law, they're only passing legislation to make some animals more equal than others. It's a joke.

The only solution to that problem is to serve up bacon for breakfast.

All that ended with 9/11 the passage of the Patriot Act and subsequent legislation which has turned the United States into what, for all practical purposes, is now a police state with all real power centered in the Executive Branch. And Legislature and Judiciary be damned if they don't like it.

HE SAID IT! HE SAID NATIONAL SOCIALISM~! HE DID IT FIRST! YOU SAW IT~! ;D

Sorry -- I had to jump on that one for a laugh. :)

But there is a fundamental difference between the faux democracy in the US (and pretty much the rest of the western "democracies") and national socialism. In national socialism, the government had the power, as opposed to corporations that place their own agents into positions of power in the bureacracy and lobby to push their own agendas.

That rant goes in a different direction, but the point there is that at least with national socialism, you know who your master is. At the moment, the "master" is only a puppet.

Cue any song by Rage Against the Machine...

And now, thanks in small part to the "Patriot Act" (though this has been building since the 1970's), there is a very real similarity between our "democracies" and national socialism. The national socialists had Jews, homosexuals, communists, the mentally retarded, and gypsies to target. (Side note: the death camps murdered over 11 million people, about 6 million of whom were Jewish.) The flip -side there in our 'enlightened democracies' is the 'terrorist'.

"Terrorists take all shapes and forms. It's not just Arabs that are terrorists you know. Your kindly neighbour could be a terrorist. Leave no rock unturned!"

You don't need death camps if you can turn it into a private industry, like oh, perhaps, just maybe, A PRIVATE PRISON SYSTEM PERHAPS?

These guys are Wikileaks on crack. Among the "snitches" they've exposed are people who've turned drug dealers and other dangerous felons in. I don't see how throwing the innocent under the bus can be justified.

You can count me in the group of people that believe our political and economic systems are broken and corrupt, and that trying to work "within" the system is looking more futile than ever.

On the other hand, a good test to me of whether a group is really serious about improving the situation is the care it takes in precisely targeting the sources of corruption and limiting collateral damage.

So without going into specifics, if an organization releases reams of information without regard to hurting good innocent people, I do not look upon that kindly, regardless of where the information came from.  I'm much more impressed when an underground activist organization says: There is illegal/immoral activity we need to expose, and we've done our best to redact the irrelevant information that would expose innocent people not involved in illegal/immoral acts.

We need to get Carol her own US TV "poli-talk" mosh pit show. Why should the neo-cons have all the fun? ;D

9/11 didn't put an end to that idea

Ah Carol! Quite correct. Perhaps I should have said "officially put an end" to the illusion?  ;D

Whatever 9/11 did or didn't do, it's a totally different country (on several very fundamental levels) than it was before.

I've suggested the US government hang a large sign that reads: Open for business under New Management around the neck of the Statue of Liberty just so nobody (including its citizens) gets confused.

Regarding "drug dealers", I'm not really all that cranked up ( :P ) about the topic. Yeah, heroin is pure evil. But pot? Jeez... Selling weed doesn't make you a bad person. Weed is hardly a serious problem. The problem is the US government attitude.

Now, that said, if they'd just pull their heads out of their asses and be semi-non-retarded about the problem, it could be fixed pretty quickly and easily.

When weed becomes a problem is when it's all skunk. Skunk isn't a balanced breed and it's quite literally dangerous. There are different kinds of cannabanoids, and skunk is skewed. Legalize it, and get some decent standards in there. Problem solved.

(No - I don't smoke weed, but I certainly have nothing against people that do.)

I wouldn't lump "drug dealers" in with "dangerous felons".

As for throwing innocents under the bus... Yeah... Not good. I hear you on that.

I suppose I look at them throwing out unredacted resources as a spiteful spit in the face.

Should some things be redacted? Probably. I haven't read them, so I don't know.

Could things be done better? Well, that's always true.

It seems to me like they are somewhat frustrated and angry over recent arrests.

Heck, Topiary is a spokesperson and he was arrested for that? Like seriously! WTF is that? You're arresting people for speaking now? VERY VERY VERY bad. No excuse. Period.

The authorities are sending a very clear message:

FREE SPEECH IS OVER!

I'd say that pretty much nothing LulzSec or Anonymous has done remotely compares to the evil they're fighting against.

I'm not going to complain about some minor transgression by LulzSec or Anonymous when what they're fighting against is guilty of the wholesale slaughter of basic rights.

Could they behave better? Sure. No argument there. I'm just not going to throw stones in that direction.

Must have been a while since you visited these our 'purple mountain majesty' and' fruited plains.' :P

I'm far from the first or only that's been saying it for several years now. And none who are, are laughing. My trend projections put the advent of full-bore fascism in the USA sometime between 2024 and 2050.
 :tellme:

You don't need death camps if you can turn it into a private industry, like oh, perhaps, just maybe, A PRIVATE PRISON SYSTEM PERHAPS?

Too late. Already got 'em! :'(

Human rights organizations, as well as political and social ones, are condemning what they are calling a new form of inhumane exploitation in the United States, where they say a prison population of up to 2 million - mostly Black and Hispanic - are working for various industries for a pittance. For the tycoons who have invested in the prison industry, it has been like finding a pot of gold. They don't have to worry about strikes or paying unemployment insurance, vacations or comp time. All of their workers are full-time, and never arrive late or are absent because of family problems; moreover, if they don't like the pay of 25 cents an hour and refuse to work, they are locked up in isolation cells.

There are approximately 2 million inmates in state, federal and private prisons throughout the country. According to California Prison Focus, "no other society in human history has imprisoned so many of its own citizens." The figures show that the United States has locked up more people than any other country: a half million more than China, which has a population five times greater than the U.S. Statistics reveal that the United States holds 25% of the world's prison population, but only 5% of the world's people. From less than 300,000 inmates in 1972, the jail population grew to 2 million by the year 2000. In 1990 it was one million. Ten years ago there were only five private prisons in the country, with a population of 2,000 inmates; now, there are 100, with 62,000 inmates. It is expected that by the coming decade, the number will hit 360,000, according to reports...

I'm not so sure I'd call it fascism, but that's splitting hairs. It would be disrespectful to the NSDAP (if that's possible). i.e. I know what you mean.

But certainly, +1 there.

Ultimately it comes down to thinking of others too when voting, when hacking, when doing whatever.

In all cases people are either selfish in regards to their pocket books...I want my neighbour and me to have access to health care but on voting day I vote for the lower taxes party.

Or selfish in regards to bringing people down. It might sound fine exposing a dictator or elected official but show me an example where normal people didn't suffer as much or more in the process.

Examples:

Like I posted elsewhere on DC hacking the CIA site doesn't affect the CIA head one bit, worst case he resigns and gets a job at a defense contractor.

The west wants to get rid of Ghaddafi but it's breaking news when his compound is bombed (if it is at all) bombs fall elsewhere and some hit military installations. Even if people aren't killed the institutions and infrastructure they depend on is gone.

on and on

What I think of there is how much suffering did the dictator/offical cause, and how much would they cause, and how does that compare to the suffering incurred by people caught in the cross-fire.

Yeah... It's sucky. But I just don't see any "perfect" way to deal with things. When you start shooting, innocent people get hit. What realistic option is there? Let the monsters rule?

Yeah... It's sucky. But I just don't see any "perfect" way to deal with things. When you start shooting, innocent people get hit. What realistic option is there? Let the monsters rule?

Assassinating the guy is less plausible, less costly, less dangerous than throwing thousands of bombs all over? I really doubt that.
(Sorry for going a bit too off topic: In any case countries that suffer the foreign intervention or bombing fate don't automatically recover, see Afghanistan (not just more recently but 80's and on), Iraq, most former colonies)

Dunno. I think I'm more likely to side with Machiavelli on the topic though. :)

Makes me wonder about what passes for entertainment these days: Take the Money & Run

It's a "game show" based around the ability of law enforcement personnel to "break" people and convince them to admit to a completely nonexistent "crime". Which based on watching the pilot... They. Are. Quite. Good. At.

I think we're all being groomed by the system to spy on our neighbors so we're sure to report any "suspicious behavior" to the "proper authorities" so they can "sort out" what the "appropriate action" (if any...) should be.

Frankly I rather miss the Screw the Man attitude of the 70s. When the fuzz was on its own looking for clues... I felt much safer then.

These days I'm forced to wonder (fear) if I'll be arrested for indecent exposure if I show up on Google maps tanning in the buff it my own privacy fenced back yard. That's no way to live.
