Autodesk Student Version-Free for Students and Teachers

Autodesk Student Version, puts watermark on print output, but a good deal for some expensive software. If you have room on your drive, these dudes are quite big!

Looks like a very good deal, especially as they do not ask for school references.

Nice resource. It's also available to veterans of related fields or to unemployed individuals.

:-*  Wish this was around when I was in school!  I don't have a need for this type of thing anymore.  Still, big thumbs up to whoever finally approved of and implemented this for those who can use it.

Just downloaded Sketchbook Designer 2012 - looks like a very nice app.

Whilst the application prints with a watermark it will also export to Photoshop PSD format without the watermark - so it really isn't a huge limitation!
