software trials

(1/1)

justice:
Some software is feature limited, some is time limited, some don't have a demo at all (?). For software that you ended up buying after trying it first, what type of trial did it have?

Ath:
Most I tried and bought had a 15- to 90-day trial. (And/but I hardly buy any software, usually try to find OSS/Free ones)

kyrathaba:
The only bought software I have on my PC is software that shipped pre-installed.  Everything else is freeware created by others or myself.

cyberdiva:
Though I use a lot of freeware, I also buy a lot of programs, and sometimes I upgrade from the freeware to the paid version (which in some cases is the point of offering a free version).  When I buy software, the usual free trial is for 30 days.  Occasionally, it's only for 15 days, though offhand I don't remember which ones are so short.  Some programs offer a more generous 60-day trial, and occasionally they make it clear that if you need even more time, you can request more.  Among the programs I have that offer a 60-day trial period are ActiveWords and Directory Opus.  I think I may have others, but those are the two I recall offhand.
