Can expect a fix soon?
« on: June 18, 2011, 12:31 AM »
Ok. I am just wondering if we can expect a fix for the "no network adapter" problem. Like others mentioned before, winpcap is working fine and other software is able to sniff traffic with winpcap and windows 7. The problem is definately urlsnooper. Tried to find an older version but no luck. What about a link to some older versions to see how they work?
Thanks

im fairly certain i fixed this problem with the latest version (the beta?) -- at least i have had no reports of the new url snooper failing on any hardware that other winpcap software works on.  if i am wrong about this, someone needs to show me an example.

the last such report i had i fixed in the latest beta, on this thread:
https://www.donation....msg235387#msg235387

(note that beta download is no longer valid because the new url snooper version came out after the beta)

so what i need to have is an example of some winpcap software working where url snooper fails (even when url snooper run as admin).  if someone can find me that, i should be able to fix.

It's definately not working on my laptop. Dell Inspiron 1525 Windows 7 Ultimate. Urlsnooper running as admin. Even tried it in compatibility mode. Shows me three network adapters which is wired. But wireshark and mediasniffer also show the same three. 2 of those are "network adapter Microsoft on localhost.." and one is "network adapter rpcap...". One of the Microsoft works under wireshark and under mediasniffer. But nothing works under urlsnooper. Now what do you need to fix that?

Yes. All show the same list. Just that url snooper doesn't catch/see any traffic/urls.

can you try enabling and disabling the non-promiscuous mode option (Only scan this computer checkbox) and test it in both modes.

and then make sure sure you click the sniff network button and surf the web and look at the statusbar in url snooper to see if its counting packet.

Tried above. Not getting any URLs. Any idea?
I know about the sniff network button. But thanks for the reminder.

But do you see the status bar showing an increasing number of packets being scanned?

No packets counted. Just Displaying that sniffing networkg on Microsoft....
I never saw the packets scanned like in the older version. Thought that you got rid of that feature.

Well whenever it is scanning packets it shows the count in the statusbar.  I always ask that because it will show the count going up even if it doesnt find urls in the data, so it's the best thing to check for.

I never saw the packets scanned like in the older version. Thought that you got rid of that feature.
btw you can still see the raw packets if you drag the bottom of the window pane to see it (though that isn't going to help you since it's not seeming to work for you).

I'm at a bit of a loss how to help more.. it SHOULD be working.. if any other winpcap application works, url snooper should work.  i don't know why it wouldn't and i don't know how to investigate more :(

When the next winpcap release comes out i can look again and see if maybe that helps.. but if i'm up to date using the latest winpcap i don't know what else to do..

I'd like to report the same problem on WinXP(SP3)+v2.30.01 Snooper.
No options are being listed under Network Adapter.

Please try the new version (2.34.01) -- it may fix your problem.
