Today we're opening up the beta of the Portal 2 Authoring Tools to everyone! It's available as a free download for all owners of the PC version of Portal 2 and can be found under the "Tools" tab in Steam.

The Portal 2 Authoring Tools include versions of the same tools we used to make Portal 2. They'll allow you to create your own singleplayer and co-op maps, new character skins, 3D models, sound effects, and music.

Here's what's included:
- Updated version of Hammer, the Source level editor
- Updated Faceposer
- Example maps and instances to help build new maps
- Updated suite of command-line compiling utilities

Nope. Bad luck only.

At least it is not as bad ad FNV: it switches off right after intro movies and doesn't bother me with fake promises.

fenix: Run a repair on the installation:

In steam, right click on portal 2, choose properties. Choose the Local Files tab and then click "Verify integrity of game cache". That fixed the exact same issue for me.

@Josh
I know the procedure and I believe I've tried almost everything (even "played with blobs"). On Steam forum my issue is listed as not fixed yet.

Eh, only two Steam related games failed to work for me so far: this and FNV. And I think they were the most expensive ones.
That is why I am embittered.

Yay!

I am not going to even try to build anything (I still have nightmares about trying to make levels for Doom).  I can't wait to play the levels that the community puts out there.

There have already been some mind-benders created before the official tools even hit, so I am expecting greatness :)

I should make a level where you attempt to navigate mousers' apartment with portals!
