Old Computer Ads - This is way cool!

This is just way cool, to look back at what all too many of us remember.

Being a massive fan, I can't help but post this pic:

But this pic:

Reminds me about work I did THIS WEEK that is just making that a reality.

It all kind of reminds me of:

And yes... I learned how to play that once upon a time...

But the old ads are fun!

The famous IBM 'Alice' ad? Awesome find!

Forgot about how much fun those old PC ads were.

I liked the Wind in the Willows style artwork that PC Connection used to do.

Even the slogans were better: The best ideas are ideas that help people. If only.

Here's more ads over the Obsolete Tech site:

Wow - I've never heard of Exxon Information Systems, Vydec, Qwip, or Qyx.

I like those last 3 company names  (but I imagine they'd be a marketing/communications nightmare).  Reminds me of the Quisp cereal I used to eat as a kid.

Just now getting the Internet down there, are you?

And the BS was already starting way back then:

(Love that "we invented" comment. Must have been shocking news to MITS with their Altair!) ;D

@40hz:
Not if they trademarked the term "personal computer" like they would today!

Very true.

After a while I seem to remember Apple qualified that comment and started calling it something like "the first generally available personal computer" or "the first personal computer you can actually go out and buy" after many in the early PC community took issue with their original claim.

They're trying to trademark "app store". Jeez... Excuse me while I go out and patent breathing...
