Cracking the credit card code (I always wondered)
« on: April 04, 2011, 05:11:29 AM »
"Those 16 digits are there for a reason and, knowing a few simple rules, you could actually learn a lot about a credit card just from its number. This infographic shows you how to crack that code."

I have always like these infographics done by Jess. Really helps to get the point across for complicated subjects.

There are a few more he's done here: http://infographics.byjess.net/.

Interesting, worked on my Mastercard. Now the real question is how do I generate new valid credit card details.

Here's a link to a page that generates syntactically valid credit card numbers: http://www.darkcodin...credit-card-numbers/

Of course, they can't actually be used, these are probably for testing your own e-commerce script or something like that.
