okay, and thanks for the empathy. I already have removed version 4, because the many disabled extensions made version 3 redundant. I think I will wait reinstalling version 4 until most extensions have been updated.

if you're up for it, you could use Nightly Tester Tools to "force addon compatibility". that way the older addons will enabled for Firefox 3. ;)

-thanks. I don't know what extension did it, maybe Mr Tech Toolkit, but I right-clicked every disabled extension inside the add-ons manager, and clicked "force"-something. The same trick, I guess.
