R.I.P Knut

Knut, the hugely popular polar bear at Berlin zoo, has died aged just over four years old. Zookeepers were shocked by Knut's sudden death as there was very little warning he was suffering any problems. Between 600 and 700 people were at Knut's compound and saw the four-year-old bear die, according to German media reports. Knut rose to fame after he was rejected by his mother in December 2006 and was then shown to the media for the first time in March 2007.

I saw that.

More than just being rejected, other female polar bears "picked" on him. Social order/disorder?

Not sure, but he sure was lovable...never did understand why Animal Rights groups said they should have just let him die at birth cause he was rejected...to me...thats just plain stupid...he lived a very happy (be it short) life at that Zoo.  :)

I wonder if I am the only one who was horrified until I clicked the link and found it was a polar bear and not a misspelling of Knuth.

Sorry to hear about the demise of the cute animal though.

They were just jealous of Knut's cuteness. This world is too cruel for the beautiful ones!

But his legacy may well live on...

Anger and confusion in Berlin over 'stuffed Knut'

BERLIN — Mourning over Berlin Zoo's superstar polar bear Knut, who died suddenly aged just four on March 19, is slowly but surely being replaced with a growing wave of anger -- and confusion.

Fans of Knut, who shot to nothing short of global fame as an ueber-cute cub in 2007, are planning a demonstration this Saturday in protest at plans for his body to be stuffed and put on display at Berlin's Natural History Museum.
