What is the purpose of file extensions...

(1/1)

...if you're going to coopt them for no reason?

I recently was snagged into playing Evony, and I was thinking about making a utility to store a history of battle reports and a viewer to go along with it.

An example battle report URL is http://battlena29.evony.com/default.html?logfile/20110312/94/e0/94e0542be21559aa986a18ed79234f2d.xml

It looks nicely formatted when you go to it, so I though they were using xslt or perhaps a viewer that encapsulated the xml...

...but the xml file isn't xml at all!  I understand to a certain extent the need to obfuscate so that you can keep your methods private, but this is ridiculous!

Renegade:
It's an HTML file that accepts XML as input. Probably processed by PHP. Makes sense though.

The query string returns pure XML:

http://battlena29.evony.com/logfile/20110312/94/e0/94e0542be21559aa986a18ed79234f2d.xml

I tried to just get the query string, and I just got the same HTML file.  How did you get it?

(Oh, and it seems to be that it's a flex application)

EDIT: Nevermind.  I'm slow this morning.  I didn't realize that it was a query string at the end of the URL.  :-[

Thanks!
