Default Image File Format doesn't save PNG

I have SC 2.89.01 and set Options -> Image File Format to PNG - Best for screenshots.
When I save my screenshots, the default saving format is jpg.

How can I set this to automatically set my files to PNG format?

The format should be used for NEW screenshots.. can you let me know if the problem you are having is that even with new screenshots it is ignoring this setting? I've never heard of that problem before.

But if it's only existing screenshots or files that you are talking about -- SC won't change the file format of an existing file automatically -- you have to do that explicitly, which you can do by specifying a file extension in the quick filename box and hitting enter.

I rebooted my computer and the screenshot capture settings seem to work now. Sorry for the post!
