No one has volunteered to create the 30+ screencasts for the NANY entries, and claim a copy of the amazing Camtasia program for their troubles. This is your last call to do so before i buckle down and do them.. It's a lot of work and you need to be proficient in doing them efficiently and quickly if you hope to survive with your sanity intact.. but if you are interested contact me asap. OTHERWISE, assuming no one else volunteers, I will begin making them. AND LASTLY: If you are a NANY 2011 coder, this is your chance to email me ( mouser@donationcoder.com) or message me any details you want me to specifically highlight in my screencast of your program. Because these are really quick and dirty screencasts, I often don't do justice to the entries, and have been known to totally miss the point and fail to recognize genius when i first see it (like i tragically did when not appreciating the wonderfulness of timns' Twigatelle game in last year's NANY).

This is particularly important!!We all endeavour to do the best we can, but it's time consuming and intensive and all the help we can get the better. Otherwise we're only left with your entry's Description and Features...

I've already done four screencasts of my primary entry, N.A.N.Y. Excuse Manager, and posted links to them in the OP of the relevant thread. They're each fairly brief, so might be worth your time reviewing before you do you own. Mine are produced using Wink, and have breakpoints where the viewer has to click a "continue" button to proceed. I'm sure you're screencast will be nicer, but thought my brief ones may give you idea-fodder, Mouser.

i should clarify: the best thing you could do is make your own screencasts. BB Flashback Express is free and is an excellent choice but there are other tools too. If you've already made a screencast of your NANY entry, we will use that as the official one

mouser, why don't you post a schedule of when you think you'll be able to get to them. It's a massive job, but some of us can do our own maybe and lighten the load for you. That is, if you can schedule say 5 per day, that's a week about of work.
I'll try to get one done for myself on the 5th or 6th.

yeah -- actually if anyone who thinks they might be willing to do their own screencast (please do!!) just posts here or emails me or messages me to that effect, at least i can skip doing them initially -- that would save me some time. i do think i need to have them all done by end of next week.

My four screencasts combined might take 10 minutes to view. Do I have to rework them into one larger screencast, or can I let them stand, as-is?

nope thats fine. what we will probably want to do though is get it uploaded to youtube so that it can show in a live box on the NANY summary page and people can just click play to watch it without leaving the page.

Thank you I could probably put something together myself, but not until after Jan 6th since I'm still travelling at the moment. So put Auspex and Whirlyword on the end of the list, and hopefully I'll take them off your hands.

Mouser, I can do several for you if that will help. I can't do all of them, but if you want to split them up, I'm more than willing to help.

I could maybe do a couple. I'm going to tinker around with Kamahl's NetLauncher so I can make a better icon for it anyway... Might as well do a screencast.

It appears Softoxi has made a short screencast describing how to use Speed Monitor: http://www.softoxi.com/sp...-trailer-screenshots.htmlI'm not sure if it's what you would want to put on the screencast page (no audio, 3rd party with logos, etc), but I figured I'd at least mention it.

Don't forget me -- I'll get one done. I'm just a day behind due to some client work that popped up and was much more than expected.

I just got to see an initial attempt of one of mouser's screencasts that he intends to re-do because it isn't upto his standards, and I must say.. those who get him to screencast their entries are lucky bums. You're doing a great job, mouser - don't let all my complaints and wheezing and whining get to you.

Grrr...
BB Flashback Express only records the initial state of the program...
Having finished recording, now I'm out to do it again. Hopefully CamStudio will work.
(I have a Camtasia Studio license, but I'm sick of paying for upgrades that really offer no benefit at all and are still buggy.)

BB Flashback Express only records the initial state of the program then you must be doing something wrong. I have a Camtasia Studio license no reason an older version won't work well.

BB Flashback Express only records the initial state of the program then you must be doing something wrong. Grrr... Grrr... That's a double-grrr. It will only record in the primary monitor. Grrr... That's a delayed pre-double tertiary grrr. Grrr... That's a grrr just for me being so bloody stubborn, knowing full well that was the likely issue, and simply not wanting to work around it... I have a Camtasia Studio license no reason an older version won't work well. Actually, v6 installed on Windows 7 nicely and seems to be running. Here's crossing my fingers... And hoping that those horrible audio bugs are fixed from v3... I don't remember at the moment... Back to it now anyways... Grrr... That's a "I had to go out and buy a new mic because my mixer appears to be hosed and I don't feel like spending another hour on it" grrr.

I don't have a YouTube account. Is there some way I can convert my HTML/Flash Wink screencasts to make them YouTube compatible? Not sure I have the know-how to put them in that format.
