Dirpy lives!
« on: December 20, 2010, 03:57 AM »
UPDATE: Dirpy lives! Hooray!

ORIGINAL THREAD:

Dirpy was a site where you could paste in the URL to (for instance) a YouTube video and it would give you options to download the video or just the audio, in different formats (IIRC) and different qualities. It's been mentioned here at DC a few times (here, here, here, and here). It was awesome. But now it's dead.

The Last Dance
It is with great heaviness in our hearts that we have decided to discontinue Dirpy. Sadly, we lack the resources to continue improving and growing Dirpy in the manner you all deserve.

It was incredible and humbling to see Dirpy grow so much so quickly. Your kind words and feedback were inspiring, and we're happy we were able to build something enjoyed so thoroughly by so many.

It was a blast, guys, it really was.

All the best,
Team D

I'm sad to see it go.

Is there anything else out there that does this as well as as easily (or better?) than Dirpy did?

Don't know Dirpy, but did happen to see an Opera Extension that does what you are asking, leveraging the site sciagaj.org

Seems to be a Polish site, but Google Translate can help (unless your Polish is fluent).

You need deturl.com http://deturl.com/ww...H2hfyxuQ&share=y a compilation of options. Seems updated, Dirpy is crossed!

Go to http://deturl.com/bo...eos-from-youtube.asp
and drag&drop this 'bookmarklet' link to your Bookmarks' Toolbar:

At least, that is how I did with Firefox:

Yeah, Dirpy was really nice, great interface - helped correct names and tags easily (apply tag to filename & vice-versa; swap artist and song names ...)
I'll miss it.

NECRO-THREAD REVIVAL!

Dirpy has been resurrected, so I figured I'd resurrect the thread about it's death, too. Hooray for Dirpy!

But I still use pwnyoutube.com to get to Dirpy and other "YouTube DVR" websites.
