I can't believe how hard this particular thing is.  i want to get rid of the stupid rss feed and bookmark icons in my firefox addressbar, and it seems to be a suspiciously difficult task.  I'm shocked there isn't an addon or greasemonkey script that just does this.  The solution I've discovered is to go in your user folder and do some code changes to the userChrome.css file.  So, I don't really want to do this because it seems like there should already be a button or something that takes care of this.

First of all, why would firefox have a file like that with the word "Chrome" in it??  How is that not a problem knowing that their competitor is the Chrome browser from Google??  Makes no sense to me.  Whatever.

Forgive me if I didn't understand what your post was all about, but what is wrong with right-clicking each bookmark icon > "delete" ?

for appearance tweaks, you can install Stylish addon which is like GM for user styles. then go to the site for tweaks that you want. i found some userstyles that you may have wanted..

• Remove the RSS Feed Icon Button - http://userstyles.org/styles/7174
• Remove Bookmark Star Button - http://userstyles.org/styles/7169
• Max address, search bar - http://userstyles.org/styles/27083

in computing terms, the word 'chrome' means any visible graphical interface features of an application. the term precedes the browser made by Google, which itself is based on the open-source project called, "Chromium". one might wonder didn't the thought occurred to any of the engineers at Google?

there IS a Firefox extension that does it, superboy.

try this: https://addons.mozil.../firefox/addon/7637/

(I think that does it all but there might be other extensions required. I can't check what extensions I've used myself to do it as I'm on a different pc at the moment.)

I thought they must have picked the Chrome title deliberately - as they were taking the stance that their browser was going to provide the "Chrome" gui surround for all the app/sites that ran inside it. You know, like how you can create a Google Chrome shortcut that opens up a site without any typical browser buttons or features - just the chrome surround.
