Website toolbar blocker
« on: November 10, 2010, 07:09 PM »
On some websites like Lockergnome, there's a toolbar that pops up on the bottom of every page.  It has shortcuts to Google, Facebook, Twitter, and a buttload more.  The problem is even if you minimize the toolbar, if you go to another page on the site the toolbar pops up again.
To me it's nothing but a pain in the ass that gets in the way.  I'd LOVE to see an addon for IE8 (Avant front end) that would prevent this nuisance from popping up....

  Any takers?

That looks like the Wibiya toolbar.

I wonder if you could block it simply by editing your hosts file to make wibiya.com point to 127.0.0.1, or use Adblock to make a filter for wibiya.com.

I tried blocking it with Addsubtract and it didn't work.  I looked at the source of the web page and saw that the toolbar is ran through javascript.....

Have to block cdn.wibiya.com. I did it and it worked.

Yep, it's javascript. Which is why you need to block the domain. *.wibiya.com or as app said, cdn.wibiya.com should do the trick.

  Thanks fellers, that was the problem.  I used *.wibiya.com and it didn't work.  Then put the .cdn in place of the * and it worked like a charm.  No more invasive toolbars now.    :)
  I'm so happy I could defecate....   ;D

And on another note, I also took out the "meebo" toolbar on SmartPlanet with adding "cim.meebo.com" to my blocked domains.....   ;D
