Ideas for christmas geek presents
« on: October 30, 2010, 12:06 PM »
I have been trying to think what the moderately geeky person would like for christmas:

There is the inevitable USB Mug Warmer:

but I also saw the USB Mouse Mat Hand Warmer:

and how about a Mouse Phone?

Anyone got any other ideas? My main criteria are computer related and cheap stocking fillers (not expensive gadgets).

I suppose I could pony up for some of these but — beware of geeks bearing gifts!

Thumb drives?

Might need a large stocking…

Here's a hands-on gift.

But what would you fill the thumb drives with? ;)

I'd love something like that, but I don't think they make one big enough for my tea mug.  :(

Thanks - this is fun.

Liked the binary clock idea so had a look in the UK - this one is even cooler:

from Gadgets.co.uk

Unfortunately it is no longer available and would have been too expensive. Actually they have a number of fun clocks (just type clock in the gift finder on the left and binary turns up a couple of binary watches). I particularly like the R2D2 projection clock ;)

Here's a cheaper binary clock at about $20:

That's the same one - but they use DHL or UPS tracked services to overseas destinations so the shipping will probably be considerably more than the product plus import duties/taxes on the total price (inc shipping) for UK deliveries. Shame 'cos I think they are cool.

+1 for the Zen Magnets idea and thank you, Deozaan for the link - I've been wondering what they're called  (and I missed the thread mouser pointed to....)

Those should make getting through airport security interesting.

Those are extremely cool. They're all different with some wacky ways to tell time.

Not for everyone, but definitely something that would be cool for kids.
