The latest JayIsGames.com game coding competition has just opened.. I'd love to hear that a DC member was entering something!

Design a browser game that incorporates the theme (see below). Since you will have just 2 months to complete your design, simple ideas are probably the best way to go. You may use any browser-based technology platform you are comfortable with (Flash, Unity, Javascript/HTML5, etc.). If we can embed your finished game file on our competition page, you may use that platform to design and develop your game.

For the 9th Casual Gameplay Design Competition, we are calling for entries designed to incorporate this theme: FRIENDS. You are free to interpret that any way you choose..

1st place: $1,500; 2nd place: $1,000; 3rd place: $500
The deadline for entries is Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11:59PM (GMT-5:00).

That would be cool except I already committed to a NANY project this year. :)

why not use same project? no harm in that given the deadline of nov 15 since you might be releasing betas of your nany by then and it will take them a couple of weeks to judge, etc.

Because NANY expressly forbids previous releases.

...and my game has nothing to do with the theme...

NANY actually says something like cannot have been publicly released before October.. the idea is to ask people to create something that is new, but it's ok if you release something in beta form and for early testing a little before the deadline.. just as long as its not something you released a year ago.
