I generally like electronic stuff like trance, but it's hard to beat Slayer.  Especially some of that really good stuff like off of "Show No Mercy" like "Die by the Sword" when you're tracking down a bug.

Jazz, baby, jazz.  Put some Oscar Peterson, and I can work for hours.  (I'm not a programmer, I'm talking about work in general).

Whoa, that jazz horse runs a lot of colors, but I agree.

My personal taste in jazz goes from the traditional:
Bobby Hutcherson, Keith Jarrett, Vince Garaldi, Wes Montgomery...
To the eclectic:
John Zorn, Sun Ra, Kronos Quartet, Albert Ayler, Peter Brotzmann...
To eardrum damage:
Merzbow, Eyvind Kang, Painkiller, Naked City...

Don't listen to much nowadays, but back in the day, ooh yeah and who could forget Mingus!?!

I just love Madredeus.

I will never forgive myself not going to their concert few years ago... :(

@f0dder
Thx, but you´re too late ... I mirrored the whole Remix-site from the beginning :D (there´s a big bunch of CDs and some DVDs now full with Mp3s)
This retro stuff reminding some nostalgic games is a great invention - some of these remixes are much better than the originals.

I also like the demo-mod-archives, especially the ones from the old Amigademo times.

No Supertramp fans?

Oh, I love Supertramp!  They get a bad rap (at least here), people either complain that they're overplayed on the now extinct classic rock station, or that they were overrated.  I thought they were great.  I love their not so big hit, Another Man's Woman, and Breakfast in America is awesome.  What a unique sound.

Let me attach a copy of my foobar2000 library, because I don't have a special programming music. I'm always listening to something.

when coding i tend to go for instrumental music, as lyrics are harder to ignore when trying to think

as a result i have lots of electronic music - all genres from hectic to chilled, but also jazz and classical.
