IDEA: Color Tag taskbar buttons

(1/1)

lensman99:
I'd like to be able to organize my taskbar buttons by coloring them, in order to group by task or customer for example. Perhaps set it up so you could right-click a taskbar button (or ctrl+click to select a few taskbar buttons) and choose from a list of user-defined colors (Similar to the email tagging feature in Thunderbird). Selecting one of the options would change the text color and background color for that taskbar button.

I use the free XNeat Window manager to drag-rearrange the buttons, but there's no division between different groupings. If they were color coded, it would be really easy to tell them apart.

I've attached a before-and-after example below of what it might look like. (mock-up courtesy of MS Paint  :) )

Would it be possible to check while working on it that it doesn't conflict with Xneat Window manager?

Thanks in advance, let me know if there's anything else you need.

Does that make sense? I guess that came out a bit wordy..

To clarify: I would just like to color code Taskbar buttons in winXP with a right-click --> Select Color.

Thanks

Yes, it makes sense.  However, I'm not sure it can be done how you're describing.
