(1/1)

I am pleased to announce that my original post was WRONG!!

Inpaint is not Image mender.

User interface for the new version is writted on Qt SDK, probably Image mender writed using Qt too. This explains interface similarity. Previous version of Inpaint resembled to MS Office because it interface was written using MFC sdk.
Inpaint have extended functionality compared to ImageMender, in Imagemender you can't select the donor area, and Inpaint can.

I am actively developing Inpaint, Mac version was released and online free Inpaint web service was launched.

My original post:

"Inpaint 3 = Image Mender"

I don't know if Teorex has been sold or what had happened, but their Inpaint 3 is similar to Image Mender 1.22! Inpaint 2 and Image Mender are VERY different from each other, they work in quite different ways, but Inpaint 3 is just like Image Mender, only with minor changes in the GUI.

If you have Inpaint 2, you have good reason to install Inpaint 3 on a different address than the default \Inpaint. I didn't know that, so I have re-installed the older version into \Inpaint 2; the two versions works fine at the same time.

I am disappointed that the homepage doesn't tell anything about the changes. I merely received an email saying that I was eligible to a free upgrade because I had purchased my key within the last 60 days.

Luckily the homepage is offering download links for both version 2.41 and version 3. But if you want me to recommend one over the other, I would say buy both! They really are quite different from each other, but Inpaint 2 is BY FAR the fastest version. At all! Image Mender / Inpaint 3 is nowhere near as fast, but might be the better choice for complex jobs.

With both versions installed, you will have to rename the shortcuts because default merely is "Inpaint"
(here my shortcuts in True Launch Bar / Quick Launch Area):

The "old" Inpaint 2:

The "new" Inpaint 3:

Image Mender:
