About autocomplete... would it be possible to add a feature
to avoid Auspex capturing words when I type?
I would like to keep/use Autocomplete but only for words I insert in the key list.

You can do that already - go to the Options, and just increase the setting of

"Consider words of [xxx] letters or more for auto-completion"

to some large number, say 100.

I disabled gauges in the view menu, but everytime I reboot Auspex gauges is active again.

Ficksed  :)

timns,

Thank you for the new release.

I regret that instant triggering is not added :)
If I a user wants to replace a letter in a word and use the spacebar as trigger then there is a space too much in the word.

But no reason not te be happy. ;)

Ah, give it time - I'm thinking about that.

That's the spirit ;)

I have not seen the extra space problem - can you show me somehow please?

I have not seen the extra space problem - can you show me somehow please?

p.e. I have the next keys:

\\1/2 ---> ½
\\1/4 ---> ¼
\\% --> ‰
\\ss --> ß

and a key I use in programming:

^^ --> "^"

All these replacements are within a text (between other characters)
but to trigger the replacement I have to use a space character or the return key on my keyboard.

Texter has the feature "instant triggering"
so when I write  the city name Ha\\ssloch "\\ss" is instant replaced by "ß"

Instant triggering would be also nice using the calculator.

\\cc --> is my calculator key
p.e. 2*3=\\cc 2*3
  it writes the 6 after the "="
Now I have to write this:
      2*3= \\cc 2*3
     and remove the space between "=" and "6"

Hope I'm a bit more clear now :)

so when I write  the city name Ha\\ssloch "\\ss" is instant replaced by "ß"

As of the next build, so does Auspex  :Thmbsup:

Ha\\ssloch -> HaBloch (you'll have to imagine the proper Eszett character there)

... without any 'trigger' characters required.

Other users: don't worry, this is a new item type (so-called 'Fast Replacement' so you won't get any surprises when using the normal Replacement mechanism.

EDIT: oh blast, the forum does still not support unicode!

Make sure the 'Erase trigger' for your calculator key is checked - that should then work as you want.

I tried it but it still doesn't work or did I something wrong....

Thanks for your previous mail as well.

ps:
would it be possible also te give users the possibility to choose to write the calculation immediately after the calculator key?
I prefer this key \\cc2*3 (no space between key and calculation)
and not \\cc 2*3

It's all possible my friend  8) and I greatly appreciate your input. At the moment I'm working on some other small items requested by donors, but rest assured I will add this one to redmine and it will appear as a feature soon.

Another thing I used in texter a lot was the advanced (script) option rather then the text option.
# - Windows key, ! - Alt key, ^ - Control key, + - Shift key, {tab}, {home} etc...

I looked though most of the docs and this thread, but could not see an option for this? Am I just missing it or does auspex not have this feature atm?

It does not have that feature (at the moment) - the way it's written means that I could indeed add this stuff if there's a demand  :Thmbsup:

I would use that feature, that was one of the main things I used texter for.

Hi,
It does not seem to run/make any saving on Win7 x64. Are you going to fix it sometime?

It may be a UAC problem - I have it running here on W7 x64 with no problem.

Can you give me any more details please?

I have UAC switched off, i.e. in 'Never notify' state. I have also tried to run it as admin. Maybe I should restart my PC...

Hello timns,

Often when I insert a keyword in whatever program it is not replaced.
To make it work again, I have to open auspex click on whatever keyword and close the software again to the system tray.
It seems that the software falls asleep :)

What's happening?

I noted also that auspex is slower replacing keywords as texter.
(I checked texter/auspex with various keywords in same software)

There are also a few errors in auspex p.e.
\\fl --> myfirstname lastname
is replaced in myf irstname lastname

Hello timns,

Often when I insert a keyword in whatever program it is not replaced.

I am not aware of anything that would stop Auspex from replacing the word. Except if you do a lot of typing and deleting inside one word, the program will not be able to match the word any more.

I noted also that auspex is slower replacing keywords as texter.

Auspex types every character one at a time. Maybe texter works in a different way: no idea. Are you saying it's not fast enough?

There are also a few errors in auspex p.e.
\\fl --> myfirstname lastname
is replaced in myf irstname lastname

Never seen that problem. Maybe check your replacement to make sure it has 'erase trigger' checked?

Otherwise, if you don't mind, I'd like to get an example from you. Create a backup for me perhaps?

No no typing in the word. Now I did a test again in the quick reply box of this page using google chrome and firefox. Both created spaces in the replacement word.
\\re --> rep lacement
the first time it did not even replace
\\re --> \\re

Auspex types every character one at a time. Maybe texter works in a different way: no idea. Are you saying it's not fast enough?
No, I'm saying that texter is quicker in replacing (sure quicker is better)

yes, with erase trigger checked.

where can I send you the screenshots?

ps: I received also an access violation error:

   Access violation at address 007D3C5B in module Auspex.exe. Read of address 00000008

Robbero: what version are you running?

PM me the screenshots if possible.

I haven't seen any access violations for 2 builds.

Don't think you can attach to PM's.  If you've found a way I'd love to hear of it.

You're right! I've embedded screenshots before, and I suppose rembered that as "attachments are possible"

Luckily Mr Robbero has emailed me directly by now.

I can confirm the behaviour Robbero described.

Often with Outlook or Firefox the replacements don't work. Nothing happens 'til I open auspex with rightclick on the trayicon.
Also doubleclick on trayicon doesn't work at this time.
When any keyword in Auspex is clicked the software seems to wake up.

There's a new release of Auspex this weekend - before I send it out I'll try it on a few other PC's and see what I can find. Thanks for the continued feedback.

No, I have that disabled at the moment while I'm testing everything else. No reason to not switch it on by now, come to think of it. Look out for the new build later today.
