Hello!

Am using the latest FARR v 2.87.03
Running Windows XP Pro + SP3
Browsers - Opera v10.53, Firefox v 3.63 and IE 7
Problem - FARRFox plugin searches and shows results of IE bookmarks only
and not the other two browser bookmarks.

Is there any setting to be done in the preferences?
Grateful for any help!

for Firefox 3 and above, there is an extra step to make the plugin work. check out the reference below.

In firefox 3 -- the new default method of storing bookmarks is incompatible with the way FarrFox searches bookmarks.
If you still want to use FarrFox you can do so by following the short instructions here on telling Firefox 3 to keep the bookmarks html file updated regularly:
http://www.lytebyte....ks-to-bookmarkshtml/

After making the change on that page i had to exit firefox and give it a minute to update the bookmarks file -- after that all worked fine.

Thanks, Lanux128!
The plugin now fetches Firefox bookmarks.

How about Opera bookmarks? Is there a work around for this too?

Also, how do I configure FARR to fetch bookmarks from different browsers that is installed on my PC?
Lets' say I have bookmarks 1 thru 10 on Firefox, 11 thru 20 on Opera and 21 thru 30 on Internet Explorer.
Will FARR fetch bookmark no. 18 from Opera if I type Bookmark no. 18 in the search field?

Thanks

Hi!

All the three check boxes in advanced options section of FARRFox have been checked, but am still having issues
bringing up search results from Opera's bookmarks.
As mentioned , I have no problems now with Firefox and IE bookmarks.
Thanks again, Lanux128

it looks like Opera's bookmarks location has been changed in version 10. the link below lists the new location. you can check in your PC and add the new location in the "custom bookmark file locations" section of FarrFox. worth a try..

Edit: the link is for Mac OS not Windows

I'm lost and have no idea how to proceed!

The instructions in the link provided by you is not clear.
It says to look for the bookmarks here:

Opera 10 RC (Release Candidate) bookmarks:

  ~/Library/Preferences/Opera Preferences/bookmarks.adr

Opera 10 beta bookmarks:

  ~/Library/Preferences/Opera Preferences 10/bookmarks.adr

Opera 9 bookmarks:

  ~/Library/Preferences/Opera Preferences/Bookmarks

Sorry for being dense, but how do I do that?
Do I copy the link somewhere and find the location/path and then copy and paste it in the "custom bookmark file locations" section of FARRFox?
Would appreciate if someone could guide me, step by step, as I am still a newbie
Thanks

sorry, i inadvertently linked the locations for Opera on the mac! :-[

Do I copy the link somewhere and find the location/path and then copy and paste it in the "custom bookmark file locations" section of FARRFox?

try this, open the following folder: %APPDATA%\Opera. (you can copy and paste the path in the 'Run' dialog). look for a file called "bookmarks.adr" (it might have a different name but the file extension will be .adr) then copy the location of that file and paste in the "custom bookmark file locations" section of FARRFox.

You can also find out where Opera stores your settings by going to the Help > About Opera menu.

P.S. i wonder if there are any other Opera users with this problem? :-\

FARRFox works fine. FFBookmarkUnpacker is an alternative that unpacks the bookmarks. Then Everything and other search tools can find them in addition to FARR.

Here's the path of the bookmarks in my PC:

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Opera\Opera\bookmarks.adr

Hope this helps someone with the same kind of problem I had.

Thanks again!
