now we have nettops... but portable monitors?

http://www.kdsusa.com/KS-19mws.asp

not really portable, at 4.5 Kilo....
I wonder why we cannot get a good laptop monitor, say 1920 x 1200 17", on a stand that is portable and that doesn't weight a ton. Definitely more ergonomic than a laptop...

Any sightings?
EDIT: http://www.techchee....ortable-usb-monitor/ pretty good...

I don't know of any, but Ive always been curious about this.

Ive also often wondered about being able to stick 2 extra monitors into my laptop bag so when i take out my laptop I can still have 3 screens :D

Flexible Organic LED displays would go a long way towards making monitors truly portable.
Imagine a monitor that weighs less than a pound and can be rolled up like a wall poster.  :tellme:
Sony's already on it:

they aren't really flexible enough at the moment but you can see the potential. i'm sure when they get going we'll see screens that can be folded a lot tighter than a wall poster - i hope so anyway. if they don't make them flexible enough to fit in a wallet or pocket i won't be impressed.

But would you really want to fold it in half? I wouldn't want the creases in my screen.

true, having creases on the screen would be rubbish - i'd hope that is something that can be overcome. well, it will be overcome won't it - just how and when is the question.

I could use one for my cell phone if I use the net on it.
I can read email in plain text but the rest is useless on a 1 inch screen.

I wouldn't mind carrying around an OLED scroll about the size of a pencil or sharpie in my bag. That right there would be taller than my netbook's screen.

true. rolling the screen up to a good, tight, size like that would be enough to keep me happy. if it fits in your pocket and you don't even know it's there - that's how the technology should be.

I bought a domain name for my display dream: displayper.com. Displays that are thin like paper and that you can roll up to take with you.
