I am not exactly sure what you mean, but if you want to get the MP4 version of a YouTube video, use Firefox and DownloadHelper: http://www.downloadhelper.net/ The combination will get the MP4 version that most YouTube videos already are offering. This is much better than converting, that always will degrade the quality even further.

If you want to convert old flash videos that you already have downloaded, into MP4 format, there are MANY options. ;-) I prefer transcoding via MediaCoder Full Edition: http://www.mediacoderhq.com/editions.html

I'm getting tired of the piss poor quality of youtube videos.  Anything that is of any interest to me has really bad quality.  Combine that with the super slow loading because I think my cable company throttles youtube, and I just avoid youtube if I can these days.  It's so bad that it takes me significantly less time to download the file from youtube than it does to wait for it to load and watch online.  This is all copyright stuff.  All the copyrighting is making it a miserable watching experience.
I uploaded like a 30 second clip from a movie for a friend of mine, and it was immediately blocked by youtube because it got fingerprinted.  Anything high quality like that will immediately get blocked.

Edit: ...or rather what's the best free screen recorder for uploading wink files to youtube?

Anyone has one for converting swf video to a flv video to upload for youtube?

I'm using wink but it only saves to swf and I'm not really using it for full blown screencasts, just screen capture with annotations. (I don't really need audio)

P.S. Not really looking for media converter as the forums showed some people having problems with converting wink's swf. (cut-off video)
