Double click tabbar to maximize?
« on: March 18, 2010, 07:15 AM »
Hi,

Is there anyway to make Firefox maximize/restore the window by double clicking any of the toolbars, such as the tabbar, bookmarkbar etc?

Thanks.

Double-click its title bar. This 20 years old trick (since Windows 3.0) works for all standard Windows applications.

I know the titlebar trick. I am specifically looking for a way to maximize/restore by double clicking a toolbar instead (I am using Hide Caption extension to hide the title bar. It works great except that you lose the double click option).

Any tips?

Most of the macro programs allow executing a script by clicking on window parts, a screen area, or a window area.  The script would contain the code or keystrokes to Maximize/Restore the current window or a specified window.

I use AutoHotkey and Macro Express.  In this case I'd use Macro Express because it would be easy.

Is there any ready-made script for this?

Autohotkey is freeware.  There are scads of scripts at Autohotkey.com.  Autohotkey is powerful but not so easy for many things.

Macro Express is shareware, easy to use for easy things.  By the time you've learned how to use it (pretty short learning curve), you'll know how to assign WindowMaximize/Restore to a specific mouse click.

Autohotkey worked great. I used this script.
Thanks for your help.

Actually, never mind. It conflicts with mouse gestures. Not very useful.
