SOLVED: Win7 - custom taskbar groupings
« on: December 25, 2009, 03:32 AM »
I usually run several applications that are of the same type, but have different icons that I want to group under the same preview/group.
Unfortunately, windows7 does not support this.

I think it would be easiest to modify the existing object code/hooks and allow drag and drop merging, but some kind of right click option addition or static config file that defines a group and specifies an icon would also work quite well.

What are your thoughts on the idea?

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you mean, but I'm using it on Vista and W7.

You could get similar functionality but just having a folder or drawer analogy.  I remember there were trays or pop-out drawers on OS/2 taskbar.  But 7stacks looks cool.  The glassy pop-up seems to take some of the pain out of the extra click.  And it does cut down on Taskbar clutter.  I have stacks for Editors, Internet, Hotkey apps, etc..  Now I have plenty of room for Task Tray icons and running programs.

hello!

it would be cooler if it looks something like this: http://rocketdock.co.../addon/docklets/1791

or try this one without the rocketdock, a portable apps(not a taskbar agent but it works like a toolbar):
