Unable to save file
« on: January 11, 2010, 04:59 PM »
Love the program and using in on a Vista 64bit machine.  When I try to save or save as, I get a LaunchBarCommander error:

Error saving file.  File was not *saved*.

Tried changing the file name to something else and problem persists.

Any ideas what's up?  Hate to loose the things I set up.

Tried renaming and saving it to MyDocuments with same result.

the disk isn't full is it?  other than that i'm afraid i can't think of what it could be.  :(

you could try going to the Tools menu and choosing Maintenance -> Evaluate Tree Consistency, or other options and see if it reports any troubles.

Disk definitely has space.  Almost new 750 GB drive.

Tried the Evaluate Tree Consistency, but nothing happened.

Tried the Evaluate Tree Consistency, but nothing happened.
it shows its summary in the status bar -- if it didn't complain then it didn't find anything wrong.

try this -- do a save as, and specify a simple file name in some path under your MyDocuments.
then after it gives you the error -- go look in that path and see if it created any file at all.

other than that.. exit the program, restart it, and try another save as and let me know if it's always giving that error.
i can try to build a special debug version to help us pinpoint where the problem is..

if it gives that error even after you restart, then it sure sounds like its having some trouble getting permission to write the file.

I gave up and exited, selecting Don't Save.  Apparently somewhere along the way this evening, I successfully saved the file becuase I was able to recover virtually all that I had done.  Whew!

Thanks for your help.
