How to hide systemtray icons?

(1/1)

snail02:
What's the best way to hide system tray icons forever? Or hide/place them in a way that they don't keep taking up horizontal space?
I am using xp. The default hiding feature is nice, but once in a while when you do need to unhide the icons to see them all, it just takes up quite a bit of you taskbar space.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

PhilB66:
"Hide or Show Notification Area Icons" script on this page (line 294) will do the trick.

Edit: ooops... forget about this one, it only hide/unhide the icons but does not solve the space issue.

Darwin:
PS Tray Factory does the trick for me on XP (Vista and even more so Windows 7 do everything I need natively). Search DonationCoder for a review... it's out there!

joby_toss:
PowerPro has a nice "*Menu Tray" command...
