Nope - the skis had skins on for climbing up hill.

f0dder, you're a brave man going cycling at minus five
Ah, it's not that bad - as long as the roads aren't too slippery. Can be nasty if the salt-trucks haven't been around, though... :)

(Oh, a beard certainly helps - and it's kinda funny to feel your beard getting frozen by your exhaled air :P)

Great Britain is frozen!
I'm laughing-- I left the U.K. >30 years ago and moved to Canada.
(Wait a minute... something's wrong with that plan!)

Thanks, tomos!  :)  I was on my way to photograph something else, but I couldn't pass that by.  We don't often see hoar frost like that in my part of England.

Hey, when did you guys start growing trees again? I thought you cut them all down during the Industrial Revolution. What did I miss?

You'll be lucky to find an airport open - many are closed at the moment and sending passengers home!

Aw crap. My drains froze today (it is -8C) which meant that the out-flow from the washing machine had no where to go out to... so it all came in instead. All over the kitchen floor :(

Had to wash the dishes in the bath too.

Here's a useful phrase.
I am just going outside and may be some time.
Hope that doesn't make you wild!

Wow, I feel for you. Many houses in Missouri (US) have basements. Mine is built into the limestone. If my sump pump stops working, I'm fine because I have a backup pump. However, if the electricity goes, I don't have a generator and I'm in trouble. (It's one of those rainy day items I never have the money for.)
