is there a way to add watermarks to each captured image?

mouser:

not yet but it sounds like a feature that should be in the program - if you have any suggestions for the kinds of options that should be presented for a watermarker i'd be happy to hear them.

maybe options like adding the watermark as an object or permanent; size options; maybe even a watermark menu where you can configure common watermark images that could be selected when desired (rather than added at time of capture).

mouser:
it might be useful to remind people that the "Tools" menu of screenshot captor was designed to make it possible for people to very easily configure external tools (like watermarking tools) that can be easily run on screenshots.

i still think watermarking is a good thing to add as a built in tool, but i need to hear more about what options should be available.

f0dder:
Watermarking is hard to do right, at least if you want it to be reliable. Adding some extra data as, for example, a GIF chunk (and whatever other formats support) is easy, but you need steganographic methods to make it reliable.

mouser:
i guess there are multiple issues here.
1) watermarking that is just meant to add a VISIBLE extra overlayed image, usually to corner of picture, or covering entire picture, which is not intended to actually hide information but rather brand your image.
2) steganographic watermarking, designed to secretly embed information that you could use to prove ownership etc., which would be invisible and hard to remove.

i was thinking more along the first lines.  for the 2nd case configuring an external tool would be your best bet probably since as fodder says it can get a bit involved and probably doesn't belong inside screenshot captor itself.
