syncing an ipod shuffle with wmp on vista

ok, I know nothing about mp3 players.  My son was trying to download some music to a friend's Ipod shuffle.  but it wouldn't sync with it.  My kids have mp3 players but not ipods, so I don't want to install itunes just to put a few songs on.

is there some freeware out there that will allow this?  i found this link but it is a 30 day trial.  here

we have wmp version 11 on Vista Business.

any ideas?

EDIT: I'm going to download and try this myself - just noticed that it doesn't need to be installed - can be run off a USB drive  :Thmbsup:
