Hi, Is there a free software that has the popular livetrace feature of Adobe Illustrator? (what it does is, you load an image, and it draws a vector image of the image, which you can easily modify). Thanks.

The paint bucket tool in inkscape can do some of it. Pretty cool but this is the only alternative I know of.

Vector Magic will allow you two traces for free using their web interface, and IMHO it is the best vector tracing package out there. Just a shame that the retail product is so expensive! http://vectormagic.com/online/how_it_works

I used the tracing option in aviary.net online vector tool Raven, and that is of various quality but for certain images it produced stellar results
