RSS question...
« on: October 26, 2005, 12:47 PM »
I am just trying out RSS for the first time and decided to try the forums here as one of my first tests.  One question: is there any way to put the forum the message is from in the message subject?  It's neat to get all the posts and just be able to sift through them, but it's hard to tell what the message is referencing.  I dont know how much you can customize RSS (I have no idea how it works just yet!), but this would make the forum RSS feed more usable.

I noticed the same thing. I stopped using the feed. It was much easier just to come here and look around.

i've been doing a lot of modifying of the smf forum scripts, so i can probably do this, can you explain a little more what you'd like; since i don't use the RSS feeds i'm not sure what they currently look like.

btw.
some requests may be discussed on simplemachines.org forum and if anyone ever has a request that's been discussed there it would save me some time to start with a pointer to it.

Well, in the forums each post (down at the bottom) has it's parent forum in brackets like [Find and Run] or [Living Room].  The subject of each RSS "email" could have the same thing.  That way you could see at a glance where each post is from.

Is there any way to set up a feed that only shows an individual user's posts?

I know I can go into a users profile and get a list of posts but the feed associated with that user profile page seems to generate all recent posts on the forum ???

Go to the use profile and click show posts then add

;type=rss;action=.xml

to the URL
