oops! How to reset Vista to be default zip handler?

(1/2) > >>

Curt:
I was sleepy and made 7-zip my default zip operator, by mistake. I prefer Vista to once again be the one opening my zip containers, in Explorer, but I cannot figure out to reset the option; it isn't explorer.exe. How & where, please?

tomos:
this might do it Curt

actually I'm suprised - both links I got seem to go with changing the registry - is Vista so difficult?? (maybe I shouldnt have posted - I'm only an XP user)

Carol Haynes:
What happens if you uninstall 7-zip and then reinstall it with the correct associations? Does it reset the original association or just leave zip files in limbo?

Similarly what happens if you changes the setting in 7-zip preferences?

lanux128:
you may want to check out this tool by scancode that toggles default Zip settings in Vista/Win7.
