IDEA: Keyboard cleaner
« on: November 17, 2009, 01:05 PM »
I was browsing and came across Keyboard Cleaner, a mac app that "comes in handy when you want to clean your keyboard, but you are afraid you might trigger a command or change or delete some of your current work beyond repair and undo...It shields your desktop and intercepts every keystroke you might accidentally make — except for Command-Q"

I don't think I have seen a Windows equivalent. If there is no such tool (perhaps using AHK?) for windows it could be very useful.

The Windows equivalent is Win+L.

I believe that mac one blanks the screen, but I wonder if there is a way not to do that or not to lock/get the login screen

You could try Skrommel's Toddler Trap, which catches any stray keyboard input you might activate by mistake.

One of my keyboards has a Turbo key that when combined with F11, locks the keyboard till you press that combo again.

@sri
Thanks for the links. BabySmash is kinda cute. :)

Another one: Kid-Key-Lock. My favorite, because it really blocks everything.

Thanks for Kid-Key-Lock, I've never heard of it. Just in the right time, my son learned how to shut down BabySmash...

For simple keyboard cleaning I highly recommend Pitaschio, which does a lot more, though.
