Aliases - Dumb Newbie Question :)
katykaty:
This is probably going to sound so stupid, but here goes anyway :-[
Let's imagine that I have a shortcut called µTorrent, and let's also imagine that I don't have a µ key on my keyboard. Finally, imagine that I always get surprised when I type utorrent into FARR and don't get any results.
How can I tell FARR to look for µTorrent when I type utorrent?
RingTFM has made me even more confused I'm afraid :D
You may rate this question for stupidity on a scale of 1 to 10 ;)
Thank you :)
tomos:
hah
I barely know what an alias is ;)
Have a look at this thread

I think it's pretty well covered there :)
mouser:
I take the blame for not making the alias system easier to use.
There are different ways to do it, but here's the easiest way to do it:
* First, find µTorrent inside FARR any way you want, even dragging and dropping the µTorrent exe into the FARR search window.
* Now right click on it and choose "Add to group alias" and then the last item in that submenu that says "New alias group"
* Now give your new alias the name that you want to type: utorrent
All done.
You can see a video screencast that shows most of the steps here:

about 1:30 minutes in.
skajfes:
Or, you could just look for torrent :D
katykaty:
:D
Thank you all for not scoring me :)
And especially to mouser - the screencast was the key, now I realise just how straightforward it was.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
And skajfes, yes, you'd think I could do that, wouldn't you. But my fingers insist on tapping the u :-[
:D
