Predictions 2006 ...
« on: January 04, 2006, 04:29 AM »
OK, give some predictions for the new year - software, computers, technical, political ...

My first prediction is that Windows Vista will be late and will be disappointing - but it seems I am not alone in that one - a quick search shows things like http://cool-stuff-or-not.blogspot.com/ :)

Ok, here are my first PNYP (personal new year's predictions) :)

Software:
the world will see more open source projects

Internet:
projects like wikipedia will continue to grow, so will P2P, even if the hunt goes on

TV/movies:
more content will be available online, instead of DVD rental services we will get to see new download-to-view-once (or twice) services

my prediction:

Donationware will start to see a healthy revival, including among open source projects which will more and more start asking strongly for donations.  The effort will be aided in part by a micropayment system from google.
