Problems with Images inserted to Word 2003

(1/1)

[email protected]:
Hi,

I'm using Screenshot Captor 2.07.01 to capture several windows of running applications. Saving the captured images as Bitmap files (.bmp) results sometimes in a strange behavior if I insert this images into a Microsoft Word 2003 document. Some images are inserted correctly, but some are shown much smaller than the original in the document (the image is linked, the size of the linked image is 100%). The size of the Bitmap file itself is OK. I could reproduce this behavior on my old and on my new system (fresh installations). I attached a sample document that shows this problem.

Any suggestions?

mouser:
is it just .bmp files that this happens on?
it's hard to imagine a case where using bmp images would be a good idea - use a format with some compression but without any loss in quality (tiff for example, or png if png is supported).

Word auto resize the images to your page (border) settings.
Don't insert images that are bigger then your page (Din A4) minus the border.

- linked?, OLE?
Maybe better paste the image directly.
Don't know if i understand this correctly and if this works better?

I found the reason for the problem: Screenshot Captor saved some files with a resolution of 300 dpi and others with 96 dpi. Word scales images with 300 dpi smaller than images with 96dpi. I don't know what's the reasons since I didn't change the preferences in Screenshot Captor. How could the resolution be set to 300 dpi?

mouser:
you can now set the default dpi for new images from the screenshot captor options, general tab.
you can also change the dpi of existing images from the "SpecialFx" menu (near bottom).
