Weird bug
« on: September 18, 2009, 07:09 PM »
Today FSubScript is just not working anymore. As a matter of fact - FARR is not working because of it. A quick view at the logs showed that fusbscript is the root of all problems, so I deleted it and everything was working normally. What is weird about that is that it was working yesterday, and the day before, etc. And I haven't made any changes to the system (no new apps, drivers etc, no new plugins, not even my development versions - nothing) - it just refused to start.

Any ideas?

a preliminary question:
what in the logs told you that it was fsubscript to blame?

Well, the last line in the FarrTroubleshooting.log was
*Loading plugin: FSubScript\FScript.dll
and it was not followed by Success or Failed message like the rest of the plugins :)

and when you restarted farr after that, did it tell you it was temporarily disabling the plugin? if not then i have to fix that --
part of the reason i implemented that logging system was to have farr autodetect and autodisable crashed plugins.

Yes it did. I've tried it again just to be sure :)

ok great
my hope was that at least this auto-reporting/disabling of crashed plugins would make it less risky for people to install plugins, since at least this way farr can help them diagnose when one goes rogue :)

Just to be more accurate - that is FScript plugin, not FSubScript. I've tried with Console plugin that also uses FScript and the same thing happened.
