Req: Taskbar Extender/Spanner
« on: September 05, 2009, 10:01 AM »
Well is seems that Microsoft, in it's infinite wisdom, changed the graphics architecture in Vista and Windows 7 so that monitor spanning (one huge desktop out of 2 or more monitors) is no longer available.

I am requesting a small program that will span my windows taskbar over 2 (or more) monitors.  It should show the program's taksbar entry on the relevant monitor's taskbar.  If i have Firefox open on monitor 1, then it's taskbar entry will be on monitor one's taskbar.  Then if I have Explorer open on monitor two, it's taskbar entry will be on monitor two's taskbar.

I am hoping that will be all it does.  No wallpaper management or anything else.  Just a small resident or non-resident program that can be run at startup then hidden and will only appear in the task manager list.

There are a few programs that do this that are shareware but include a ton of other features I am not even interested in.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think this is within the realm of a coding snack -- too big a task i think.
But, there are some existing tools that may work for you:

Also: http://www.mediachan...om/free/multimon.htm

Though, I've no idea if it works with Win7.

I am currently using Ultramon, but it has too many features and the taskbar on monitor two is unable to use the address toolbar.  Multimon doesn't support Aero, Zbar seems to be a pseudo taskbar?

Maybe Skrommel would be interested? I would just like a simple, small program to do just that one thing and nothing else.  These are the times I wish I were able to program and build things like this...
