Very, very funny - and impressive. He is an absolutely brilliant stand-up comic. A real treat to watch a true professional like that in action. Superbly well-rehearsed and sticks solidly to the rehearsed material whilst making it look as though it's straight off-the-cuff. Dives down from intelligent to coarse but clever repartee, and then snatches you around for more. Perfect timing, commands feedback at just the right points, plays the audience beautifully. Wow! Shades of Billy Connolly (The Big Yin). |

Interested, I had to spend a bit of time googling this. Hard info seems scarce for some reason. I came up lots of info on Uganda, but only general feel-good stuff like this direct reference:

Musaazi's production process led to very cheap sanitary pads being able to be made from freely available local flax, and his design of a "3-chamber incinerator" enabled the convenient incineration of the used pads, "and other materials". I could not find a description of the incinerator design, but it would presumably need to be a low-cost low-energy affair, otherwise it would probably not be economically viable in Uganda - which seems to be energy-poor and economically impoverished. It is riven with corruption. The incumbent president is Yoweri Museveni, Commander of the National Resistance Army, who has been president since 26 January 1986. Oh yes, it's a democracy too... Yeah, right. From Wikipedia: The country has largely untapped reserves of both crude oil and natural gas. There would presumably be a reason for a poverty-ridden country keeping all that potentially realisable fossil fuel-energy wealth stuck under the ground, but one can only speculate what that might be. |

I know exactly what he's talking about when he goes on about "faggot". When I was a kid, I had NO clue about any of that stuff, and the 2 most common insults were "fag/faggot" and "spaz". I had no association there with anything other than the word itself. It reminds me of a South Park episode where the kids start calling a bunch of bikers (bikies) fags. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/w...ki/The_F_Word_(South_Park) ) But I have a violent allergy to groups co-opting words for their own private use and trying to restrict the use of words to specific meanings. On a related tangent, the word "slut" used to mean nothing more than "a little girl". There's an old poem that starts: Mary, Mary, what a slut. What a little slut. Mary, Mary, what a slut. etc. etc. I forget the rest. But god forbid you say that word now. Never mind that the current meaning isn't what it was back then. Cripes... |
