Here is another attempt at explaining the history of programming languages:

1801 - Joseph Marie Jacquard uses punch cards to instruct a loom to weave "hello, world" into a tapestry.

I'm not sure I get it. It's very slightly humorous, but the joke isn't funny anymore after the first couple entries.
