Program At This Site????
« on: May 02, 2009, 03:12 AM »
I had this program called Quick Tray that placed an icon in the bottom right of the task bar which
when I left clicked on the icon any program I choose when I configured the program would be listed.
All I had to do is click on the program and it loaded. This saved desktop space.
I had to reinstalled my Windows XP because it got corrupted and I lost all my emails and all programs
that I had loaded.
Is there a program like Quick Tray here that I could download????
THANKS!!!!

# Linking to CMB Software

   1. Use of special links to the CMB Software web site: Using a specially formatted link, which includes a unique Affiliate ID that we provide you, you will provide a special link to a CMB Software page. You may add or delete links from your sponsoring Web site at any time without our approval.
   2. You can add or remove links at any time: You may select and link to additional pages, or remove such links, at any time and without our prior approval. However, you must use the correct special link format with the unique Affiliate in order to receive proper credit for your referrals.
   3. You must link directly to the CMB Software web site and receive commissions on any products sold from CMB Software during that session provided you use the unique Affiliate ID and the correct special link.

An attempt to make DC a sponsoring Web site for commissions.
Will the special links, which includes a unique Affiliate ID to the CMB Software appear?

cmpm: it could be that this is a legitimate request, at least I don't get the typical indicative google hits :)

It might seem as a bit weird request since Quick Tray is still available, but perhaps the poster feels that $8 is a little too much for something that could be implemented in an hour in AHK.

But of course, it could be yet one of those post-and-edit-with-spam-links threads, guess we'll have to wait and see...

Yeah you could be right.
Googling 'quick tray' brings it right up.
Not hard to find.

A better free alternative.

Well, I tried to pay for the license again at the Quick TRay website but its not secure,
I sent an email to them but it came back as being unable to be delivered.
There is a 1-800 number but you can only call it Monday thru Friday and I
haven't tried it yet.

I tried calling the number but it said its disconnected.
I can only have 3 programs with Quick Tray and I can't configure anymore
unless I have a license. I still need something to replace it.

You mention saving desktop space so I assume you're talking about launching programs that aren't already running from a popup menu.

If so, Windows does what you need by itself - no 3rd party apps necessary.
Create a folder anywhere on your system - add a bunch of shortcuts (apps, folders, docs, whatever) to the folder.

Right click the task bar, Toolbars -> New Toolbar and browse to the shortcut folder.

There's also Horst Schaeffer's free PopSel and QSel that do the same kind of thing.

I don't understand how someone can come to this site asking about a "Quick Tray" type of software and nobody would think to recommend to them Mouser's LaunchBar Commander.

Sorry, but I want something really simple like Quick Tray.
I didn't like PopSel or QSel.

QuickTray looks a bit like my launcher.  Only thing with mine is it looks more like a text editor.  The entire path to the folder, program or shortcut is a line of text.  You can save groups of them to a filename.  If you have several programs folders whatever that you use together, double click the saved filename and they all come up in the launcher. Press one button and all selections are launched at once.  Name is Faves.  There's a .NET version and FavesSA(which is newer and has more features) that is a stand-alone Delphi 5 executable(no .NET required works on everything from Win98 2nd ed. on.)

In addition to launching you can use it to monitor explorer folders and automatically add them to the list.  All my software is fully enabled.  There's usually a donation button in the tray icon, start menu or readme file but that's it.  No time limits or expirations.

The FavesSA installer installs either or both FavesSA and XMon. If you just want the launcher, when you run the setup program choose to install FavesSA only.

FavesSA and XMon both put their icons in the Task Tray, not on the Taskbar.  I single click on the Task Tray Icon toggles hide/view.
